Stories from Nowhere
Stories from Nowhere marks a period of transition in my studio practice, when an interest in gesture and intuitive mark-making began to intersect with ideas of structure, organization, and space. These paintings occupy an imagined territory where abstract forms suggest fragments of architecture, pathways, and environments without fully resolving into recognizable places.
Created through a process of layering, revision, and discovery, the work explores the balance between spontaneity and control. Linear elements act as points of connection while larger forms establish rhythms and relationships that unfold across the surface. The paintings invite viewers to construct their own associations and narratives from these partially revealed spaces.
This series laid the foundation for my current investigations into systems, infrastructure, and the built environment. Many of the visual ideas that would later become central to my practice first emerged here, making these works an important bridge between earlier explorations of abstraction and the more structured, systems-based paintings that followed.
